Workshops
Five different 60-minute workshops are offered. Each one had two goals:
- present basic information about the topic, and;
- provide participants take-home materials.
Participants register to attend three of the five workshops, attending with the same group of people which will help build relationships and collegiality. Each workshop facilitator will provide additional information and materials that will be made available on each diocesan website. How participants make use of this information is up to them.
Workshop A - Constructive Conflict Management: Converting Negative to Positive (The Rev. Dcn. Jo Glasser, St. Paul’s, Hudson, Diocese of Eau Claire)
Conflict happens. It’s a given when people work together. How can we work through conflict to benefit the Kingdom of God?
Workshop B - Deploying Our Ministers: Using Prayer, Gifts and Tools (The Ven. Dr. Edwin B. Smith, Canon for Transition Ministry, Diocese of Fond du Lac)
God provides many gifts to the people of the Church. How do we discern what they are? How can they best be used? Does having ministry gifts mean ordination?
Workshop C - Greening the Church: Practical Ways to be Better Stewards (The Very Rev. Michael Greene, Christ Church Cathedral, Eau Claire, Diocese of Eau Claire)
Every congregation and individual can be better stewards and “go green.” What steps can be taken? What financial benefits might there be?
Workshop D - Beneficial Boundaries: Legal Responsibilities of Trust(Mr. Richard Wilson, Blessed Sacrament, Green Bay, Diocese of Fond du Lac)
Serving on a Vestry carries important church and legal responsibilities. What are these and why do they exist? What ’s the relationship between the Vestry and Priest?
Workshop E - Communication is Key: Tools Modern and Ancient (Mr. Aran Walter and Mr. Matthew Payne, St. Thomas, Menasha, Diocese of Fond du Lac)
The Good News does no one any good if it isn’t communicated. How does a congregation best reach its members? How about the community? Should we tweet?
